Welcome!

My name is Corin Mackenzie and I am a registered counselling therapist candidate (RCT-C) with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists. I have a BArts degree from St. Mary's University (2008), Early Childhood Education Diploma (2018), and a MArts in Counselling Psychology degree from Yorkville University (2024).

I employ an approach that is tailored to the individual and that can stem in multiple therapy approaches. These approaches are founded in a person-centered approach with an understanding of neurobiology. Some of the main therapies I use are Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Behavioural Therapy, Somatic therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, and I am currently enrolled in complex trauma certification. I believe that the client is the authority on their own story and so I aim to work collaboratively with clients to find the best way forward. I aim to meet the client where they are in the stages of change and aim to support them in a safe space free from judgment. I work with clients who are experiencing self esteem issues, trauma, addiction, burnout and general difficulties in life that require support in a safe therapeutic setting.

I believe that we are all capable of change with an understanding of our own behaviors, triggers, thoughts, as well as an understanding of our biology and environment. I like to look at the individual as a whole and understand that there are many intersecting factors that have gotten us to where we are today. I believe that both nature and nurture are at play and that it is important to understand the role both have in our cognitions, behaviours, needs and beliefs.

I look forward to working with you!
